ANOTHER FUN FILLED HARVEST FEST
First of all, a huge thank you to all the wonderful energized, dedicated members and non-members who came out to prepare for the 6th Annual Harvest Fest. What a wonderful site to see so many of you working to help setup and tear down. Without your dedication we could not have had another successful Harvest Fest.
Our 6th Annual Harvest Fest turned out to be another chilly day making it a perfect fall day for hot chocolate and campfires. Thank you Marko Hartley for keeping the bonfires going all evening. We received compliments on how the Harvest Fest was run, keeping the children happy and busy.
A big thank you to Ken Golonka for being in charge of the hayrides. This year, the hayride was better than ever because we extended the hayride further into the woods on the old trail and back around the pond. Along the trail were two gorillas jumping out from behind trees scaring the daylights out of the passengers.
Three new areas were added along the trail this year. Thanks to Cody Grainger, Dale, Andrea and Nathan Miller for their creativity with the lighted “Spider” and “Skeleton” scenes. The “Dead End Cemetery” section was set up by the Golonka and the Letich families complete with live walking Zombies thanks to Luke Yelden and friends.
The children were walking art after selecting their favorite design to have painted on their face, arm or hands. Thank you Dale Miller for your patience and talent.
A new craft for the children this year was using a material marker to draw a pumpkin face on a tie dye T-Shirt. It was fun to watch the kids create their own Sand Art bottle to take home. Thank you Marguerite O’Connell for chairing the craft corner.
Like in years past, the Cake Walk was so much fun watching the winning number drawn when the music stopped. Thank you Christine Hartley for chairing this fun event. Also thank you to the members and non-members for bringing the goodies for the Cake Walk.
Bingo was added venue this year for both children and adults with half the pot given out as the prize. Even the very young were excited to call Bingo when their number was called. Thank you Laura Golonka for chairing this new event.
Walking through the candlelit path into the woods to the story telling area made the evening even more enjoyable. Children and adults enjoyed sitting around the campfire listening to the spooky Halloween stories. Thank you to our storyteller Bob Humpa.
Bob Humpa’s music during the festival kept everyone in the spirit of the holiday. He certainly did a tremendous job playing seasonal music during the cake walk. Thank you Bob.
Thank you to Mary Humpa for taking charge of the Ticket Booth selling popcorn, raffle tickets and being a representative with N.I.C.C. information.
Thank you to Cindy Yelden, head chef of the Conservation Cafe this year. There was plenty of good food to be purchased throughout the day. She and her staff did a terrific job keeping customers tummies full.
A special thank you to Don Letich our parking attendant. He greeted each guest and then thanked them for coming when they left. Don also conducted his own survey asking everyone who left if they had a good time. What do you think the responses were….they had a GREAT time and thanked NICC for coordinating this event by capturing all the special moments.
What would the event be without pictures to add to our memory book and put on our website. Thank you Bonnie Letich for preserving this event by capturing all the special moments.
